Oman gets its first oil and gas institute

Oman launched its first Oil and Gas institute (instOG) on Sunday which will specialise in the training and development of professionals in the energy sector, is an addition to educational institutes in the Sultanate.
“We believe instOG will make a significant contribution to the development of human resources and capabilities, to employ scientific research and innovation in addressing the industry’s challenges facing human capital,” Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Saeed, Assistant Secretary-General for Innovation Development at The Research Council, said.
Essam Bin Saud Al Zadjali, CEO of Oman Oil Company believes the institute will help give necessary knowledge and skills to employees in the oil and gas sector.
The institute will accept 200 fresh graduates in different engineering fields related to the oil and gas sectors.
The three-year programme will provide courses in coordination with Omani oil organisations including specialisations in drilling engineering and geology.
The intitute will incorporate state-of-the-art simulation technology and virtual reality platforms to provide a reality-like training environment to its students.
Its campus based in Muscat spans 4,800 square metres and houses a number of facilities, including a technical training centre, lecture halls, halls for workshops and simulations, classrooms, laboratories and a service building.
